An energizing chanting game where each person gets to takes a creative risk.

Instructions:

  • Form a circle.
  • Everyone chants together: “Shabooyah, shabooyah, shabooyah roll call! Shabooyah, shabooyah, shabooyah roll call!”
  • Then one person calls another person’s name in a rhythm: “Hey Gita!”
  • Gita answers: “Hey what?”
  • That person repeats, “Hey Gita!”
  • Gita: “Hey what?”
  • The whole group: “Show us how you make a move!”
  • Gita: “No way!”
  • Whole group: “Show us how you make a move!”
  • Gita: “Okay!”
  • Gita does a dance move that everyone copies.
  • Everyone cheers and then chants again, “Shabooyah, shabooyah, shabooyah roll call! Shabooyah, shabooyah, shabooyah roll call!”
  • Now it’s Gita’s turn to call on someone else.

Variation:

Participants make up a rhyme to go with their name instead of a dance:

  • Lise: My name is Lise.
  • Group: Hey what?
  • I work for peace.
  • Group: Oh yeah!
  • And when I sleep,
  • Group: Hey what?
  • I have great dreams!
  • Group: Cheers. Then go back to Shabooyah chorus.
